Al and Cal Homes and Community: GA and RE or General Aviation and Real Estate some fun analogies!

GA and RE or General Aviation and Real Estate some fun analogies!

GA and RE   or General Aviation and Real Estate    some fun analogies!

The weather is not cooperating for a fun flight today.    Altitude deprived,  I start "chair flying" (running the procedures thru my head).    This then gets me thinking about the similarities of general aviation to real estate.

When I first started thinking of flying I was reading an article and thought " why are they only talking about the state of  Georgia?"

So, of course, first comes the use of acronyms -

GA (general aviation), AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc), FBO (Fixed Base Operator).. and,

RE (Real Estate), NAR (National Association of Realtors), FSBO (For Sale By Owner),... and the list is endless!

OWD

Then, the terms

Angle of Attack -   exceed and you will stall   (close too hard and you will fail)

Pre flight inspection - Check the plane, fuel, conditions, etc,  make sure all is in order before you go!   (be prepared, know the market, the home, the compatibles, etc, be ready  to answer all questions that may come up)

Pre flight briefing  - let your passengers know to fasten up, emergency procedures, etc.    (let your clients know what to expect)

Flight Planning -plan out all aspects of the flight including an alternative if not going as planned!  (plan out the appointment - have an alternative thought out in case you need to switch gears)

Checklist -   a necessity - dont' rely on memory  (systems for marketing and keeping track of transactions are important)

Altitude is your friend - take the high road  (take the high road)

Run up - operating system check before you go!     (last minute check before the appointment to make sure all is in order)

Communicate - let everyone know what you are doing   (constant communication makes for a smooth transaction)

Heading indicator  -  direction in which you are going  (direction in which you are going)

Strobes, Beacon, Nav Lights - See and be seen!   (Exposure)

Co-pilot - a second set of eyes and someone to help with the work load (a second set of eyes and some one to help with the work load)

Go-Around - procedure to abort landing and try again   (if the appointment isn't going in the direction you want, recognize and make adjustments)

Greased Landing -  no explanation needed!   (the perfect appointment!)

I guess at the end of the day it all comes down to preparation and anticipation.

  As simple as that!

Hi Carol... I think it's pretty neat how you've taken your appreciation of flying and combined it with your job as an agent to BE PREPARED...  that's what it's all about.

Hi Susan.   That's a trainer at Norwood Muni...   I've flown from Falmouth Air Park to LA and back, got to see lots of places along the way because we had to stop for leg stretch and fuel every three hours or so.    I have been flying for a couple of years now and have a couple hundred hours...(still a young pilot!)     want to go flying????

Carol Ann, You go girl!  That is amazing, my father use to fly and my "mate" Maurice, wants to learn how to fly,  Very cool!

Hi Christine!   What?.. That little  bug hasn't bitten you too???     Tell Maurice I know of a great flight school here in Mansfield MA... you'd have to come up for a visit!

As I said on my response to your post, I am so impressed!  Too many other things going on in my life, but I would have to learn if Maurice did, can't fly solo.  My dad also use to teach Civil Air Patrol!  We have airports here in Naples and on Marco Island...you never know, maybe it will be on the bucket list!

Just right issues?I'd ocnite that as someone who in point of fact doesn't write on blogs much (actually, this may be my first publish), I don't assume the time period lurker' could be very becoming to a non-posting reader. It's no longer your fault in the least , however in all probability the blogosphere may get a hold of a greater, non-creepy title for the 90% people that revel in studying the content .
