Al and Cal Homes and Community: Good Advice from a Blog Comment

Good Advice from a Blog Comment

Good Advice from a Blog Comment

I thought I would share this.   I posted a blog the other day, "Thoughts on an open house and a post open house briefing",  following up on an open house that I had at 51 Hewes St in Cumberland RI.

I made reference to the fact that there were 8 sets of Buyers came who came out on that beautiful day to look at the home and there were a few that I felt might be interested in this home.Good advice from a random blog comment

The blog was not only posted here on the active rain sight, but another as well.   After posting,  I received a comment from Nancy Carroll.    Nancy is not a Realtor.  She is a teacher.     She comments frequently on my posts as I do hers.

Today, she made a suggestion to use Survey Monkey, a free on line survey tool to follow up with the open house visitors.

Personally, I had never thought of that and feel that it is a great idea!!!   Why didn't I think of this on my own?!!!   Maybe this would impress a Buyer and we could pick up a customer.   Also, maybe we could gain some insight for a Seller that we might not be able to get.   How happy will that Seller be!   Sometimes we are so embroiled in our business and doing whatever it is that we think is effective that we don't think outside the box.

We think like Realtors.  We don't think like Buyers or  Sellers, but maybe we should be!    After all, aren't we spending countless of hours, effort and cash trying to reach, yup, Buyers and Sellers??

It is pretty terrific gaining perspective from someone outside the real estate community.  Listening to their ideas can be a way we might change something we do for the better.   Looking at what we do from a Buyers or Sellers perspective and trying something different just might put us in front of the crowd, and, I don't know about you, but that's where I want to be!

I am going to implement this and see how it works.

Regardless of how it shakes out, I am thrilled for the interaction and for the suggestion!   I will keep you posted.

Thanks Nancy!     (the Link to Nancy's Blog, Teaching is Elementary)

Carol Ann: I'll be checking back to see how this shakes out for you...I'm always looking for ways to improve my business model and this sounds intriguing.

I looked at the Survey Monkey site and there are no examples anywhere.  It appears that one must join to get any examples.  I don't get it.

Carol ann, i would use it if the buyers didn't have an agent...i never get them without an agent anymore or they give a false email..i want to hear your success with it...

Hi Lenn.  I don't understand why they do things like that either.   How can you want something you can't see?

Hi Carol Ann-Well, if you can make one and it works for you, let us know...could be a very good interactive tool (of course depending on how much it is).

You know who does a bunch of surveys/polls for AR?  Craig Rutman..maybe he can give you some tips.  Keep us updated!

Hi Carol Ann.... I think you'll need to report back and show everyone what this survey looks like and how well it works for you..... I'd be interested in seeing it.

Carol Ann, Survey Monkey is always a click away for my instant feedback.  I never thought about using it for OH's however that seems to be a perfect match.  Nancy's a genius, and thank you for the share.

Carol Ann

THis is so true not only about selling real estate but almost everything in life. Many including myself look at life through blinders way too often. One thing my company just started this year was to go to a service call trusted agent which does much of what Survey Monkey does. Compared to the ole way of sending a form letter, this is so more professional. cheers cvc

Hi Curtis.   How are you?   I didn't know there was a service out there that did that.    I am anxious to see how this works out.  If not, we will be trying other things.   Nice to have folks helping me along the way.    Hope you are taking care of you.

Carol Ann it makes sense, after all we chase the agents for feedback why not the people that just walk through, it could be more positive.
